Exactly a year has passed since the formation of Slovenia’s 15th government after an election in which Robert Golob’s Freedom Movement defeated Janez Jansa’s Slovenian Democratic Party, SDS.
In that time, presidential and local elections have been held, though without producing any significant change in the balance of political forces.
Neither the parties nor their programmes have much [if any] influence on voter turnout or election results. So the environment in which an election takes place in Slovenia remains a key determinant of the result.
